Hello. I am a Mac and I am a PC

Guess what arrived yesterday!

After listening to all of the Nunavut bloggers talk about their love for the Mac and then my Dell dying, I decided to get myself an early Christmas present! I called My Mac Dealer in Edmonton on Wednesday. Paid on Thursday. And had my new MacBook Pro by 5pm on Friday. Unreal!

Now I just have to figure out how to use this thing.....

CONGRATS! but all this got done while you are in Kugluktuk? that is unreal considering I've been reading "townie's bastard" and jackie's blog on the frustration of getting their macbooks!

the learning curve is easy, we are planning to get one but i am still justifying if i REALLY need one :-)

I had nothing but headaches with PC's. I've a Mac for about 4 months now and couldn't be happier. Welcome to the club!

When I first got my mac, it felt like Japanese it as so backwards from PC, but stick with it. It's soo much better...lol

Part of my problem was that the computer shipped from China (because I modified it slightly). If Kara had hers sent from a Mac store in Edmonton, then yeah, I can see it arriving much quicker. Although a day is still impressive.

As for figuring it out, no worries. The light will go off pretty quick once you start playing with it.

Congrats! I love my little Mac Powerbook. And hey, you got iMovie on it too right? You can start making little movies for your blog!

Haha well I was trying to write a comment but the keyboard on my *brand new* MacBook froze...grr. I've been reading and it's a widespread issue. I hope yours isn't a defective piece of crap like mine is. :D I love my MacBook but I'm a total Mac newb.

YAA!! You've come to the other side!

No more crashing, viruses, unnecessary message windows, no more lengthy installation processes. Just simple, brilliant, useable software.

Welcome to the Light Side Kara and Matt. You'll find the learning curve is pretty small. It is designed to be intuitive. The biggest problem I had was getting used to "ejecting" any external disk.

Here's two of my favourite Mac tips.

If you want to move something from one place to another you just click and drag it over there. Simple enough, but what if where you want it is buried in different folders. Simply drag it to the parent directory and hold it there. Voila the directory will open. Drag it to the next folder and hold it, it will open.

The other comes under "Cool Mac Tricks". If you click the amber button on a window it Genies down into the dock, but if you click the amber button while holding the "shift" key it does it in slow motion.
