Meeting a Blogger!

On Monday we got another welcome surprise! The first was the plebiscite happening and passing. The second was getting to meet another blogger! Jennifer from North of Nain was in town for work and took me up on an offer to stop in. We had a great visit in the afternoon and it felt like I was catching up with an old friend! She then came back that evening to meet my other half and they had a great bullshit session. It was fun to meet someone that I read about!

Hey! I think someone is getting sleep at night! 17 posts this month! I didn't check in a week and had a friggin book to read!

LOL

I'm gonna go back to your post on the recent prohibition in this comment box. My own experience with this is that there is a rise in bootlegging, drug and other types of issue (like huffing) following prohibition. Cutting off an addicts supply isn't the answer. It will work in the short run but within a week or two people will be resorting to drinking mouthwash and rubbing alcohol to try and get high. Alcoholism can only be CURED with the will of the alcoholic. The underlying root of the problem isn't the booze either. It is sexual and mental abuse, social dislocation, welfare dependency, and the list goes on. Legalize pot and allow the alcoholics to substitute the booze for the weed. They will be fried but they will be mellow, instead of being fried and getting violent! Oh ya, if you want to prohibit anything, prohibit chips, pop and candy. Type 2 diabetes will kill the pot head.

Yes, but if you prohibit the pop and chips, the Northern will go out of business! LOL

I know what you mean c'est moi! It isn't actually a full out prohibition, but you have to apply to bring in your liquor. A committee will review your request and say if you beat up your wife that week while drunk- you will be turned down. I think this is better than a full out ban. I get frustrated with the drug use. I get adult students who take two days to work through a worksheet and who are chronic pot smokers. When you get a few days in a row where they don't use drugs- what a difference!! But you are right about less violence. And I believe we should ban all of the junk food in town. Along with juice crystals and maybe some of the kids in town could keep their teeth!

How much fun, to meet another blogger! I would so love to bring my family to Kugluktuk to see where I once lived. Think we'd have to win the lottery to be able to afford to get up there though, LOL.

Ya. I know what you mean Kara.

But, on to the really important stuff. Are you just on a tear with the blog or is Hunter-Baby sleeping through the night!?!

Just thought you should know about the Bumbo recall (since Hunter seems to be in one in every picture).

Hi Kara,

When you get a chance, can you send me an e-mail at: wscobie@uottawa.ca?

Thanks,

Thanks for the info. I had read that article ealier today. The bumbo is fine- it is parents who leave the kids unattended while in them on tables and counters. For the recall you just gets safety stickers!

hahaha, ditto on the pop and chips prohibition! but our northern store gets a lot of business from them too. it almost always crazy here if they run out of pepsi!

as for the bumbo, yes how stupid can some parents be? leaving kids unattended on high raised surfaces? it's even stated on the box or was it back of the chair on not to put kids on raised surfaces.
